Castelli Gallery, 24 West 40th Street, is pleased to present a group exhibition of works by Richard Artschwager, Joseph Kosuth, Robert Morris, and Keith Sonnier. The show features seminal pieces made by the artists between 1962 and 1968. These works embody the defining traits of the art movements they have come to epitomize—Pop, Minimalism, and Conceptual Art—while demonstrating the often overlooked dialogue between these movements. Viewing these works together highlights the similar themes and ideas explored by artists of all three movements and helps rethink the idea that these artists belonged to separate histories. Examples of concerns that united these artists include the permutation of a form or idea, as in Untitled (Permutable Floor Slabs) by Robert Morris and Joseph Kosuth’s Five Fives (to Donald Judd), and the interest in merging art with everyday objects, demonstrated by Richard Artschwager’s Walker and Keith Sonnier’s Lead File. By emphasizing the commonalities rather than the differences between Pop, Minimalism, and Conceptual Art, the exhibition hopes to bring attention to how the shared interests of these artists index the radical moment in history marked by the 60s.

The exhibition will be up through September 30th, however the selection of works will be rotated at the end of August to give visitors a chance to see other artworks by Artschwager, Kosuth, Morris, and Sonnier, which likewise convey the focus of the show.
